Instructor: Lisa Furst, LMSW
Lisa Furst, LMSW, MPH is Director of Public Education for the Mental Health Association of New York City (MHA-NYC). She develops and implements public education programming that provides information about mental illnesses and their treatment to professionals, paraprofessionals, and the general public. In her role as the Director of Education for the Geriatric Mental Health Alliance of New York, a project of MHA-NYC, Ms. Furst creates public education and training/technical assistance programs to educate professionals and the general public about the mental health needs of older adults. She is a co-author of “Depressed Older Adults, Education and Screening” (Springer Publishing Company), a guidebook to help aging and social service professionals establish a model of mental health education and depression screening in community-based aging service programs. She is a graduate of the Hunter College School of Social Work and is a licensed social worker in New York State.

David Patzer, M.D. has been practicing child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry for nearly 20 years. His education includes an undergraduate degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and his medical degree from Northwestern Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. He completed residency training in General Adult Psychiatry at Yale University and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship training at the Yale University Child Study Center. Dr. Patzer served as Assistant Professor at Yale and subsequently at the University of Arizona in Tucson teaching child psychiatry. He also attended the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Patzer is board certified in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and addiction medicine, as well as licensed for practice in both Tennessee and Arizona. He has served in numerous director-level positions for child and adolescent psychiatry. He has also published numerous articles on developmental disorders and substance use disorders. Dr. Patzer currently serves as the Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Clinical Supervisor for Mental Health Cooperative in Nashville, Tennessee. He is also the Medical Director for the Middle Tennessee Bradford Health Services (Addiction Treatment) in Nashville, Franklin, and Clarksville, Tennessee.
